The company of Karromato

Karromato is a professional marionette company, founded in Prague in 1997. Karromato’s founding members are from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Spain, and have brought with them the long experience they gained in several theatre companies.
They work as puppeteers, designers and makers of traditional wooden marionettes. They believe in the marionette theatre’s natural ability to speak to audiences through the lifelike movement of the marionettes themselves, accompanied by music and rhythm. Thus they create performances that do not depend on the spoken word.
Karromato's work follows the tradition of classical Central European marionette shows. It preserves their traditional values, not just as museum pieces, but also as a living form of contemporary theatrical expression, which captivates and entertains both young and adult audiences.
